Empowering communication in the Bega Valley
Empowering communication in the Bega Valley
Appointments
We are a family and client-centred speech pathology practice based in the Bega Valley NSW. We offer services in locations across the Sapphire Coast and Bega Valley including Bega, Bermagui, Tathra, Merimbula, Pambula and surrounding areas.
Medicare has recently expanded its rebate schedule to include assessment and intervention for childhood stuttering, speech sound disorders, and cleft lip and/or palate for children and young people under 25 years of age. We are currently accepting referrals for these conditions. If you are interested in accessing these services, you will first need a referral from your GP or specialist.

Supporting meaningful communication, connection, and confidence
At Sapphire Coast Speech Pathology, we believe that when people are supported to communicate in ways that are meaningful to them - and when communities are willing to listen and adapt - people feel more confident, connected, and empowered to participate fully in their lives.
We provide neurodiversity‑affirming speech pathology services that support meaningful communication and feeding/swallowing goals across the lifespan. Our work is grounded in evidence, guided by curiosity and collaboration, and shaped by strong, respectful relationships with our clients.
Our approach
We work collaboratively with clients and families.
That means:
Valuing all forms of communication, including AAC and non‑traditional communication styles
Honouring autonomy, identity, and choice
Learning from neurodivergent people and working responsively
Setting goals that are meaningful in real life - not just on paper
Our approach focuses on building confidence as well as skills, so clients feel empowered to communicate in ways that work for them.

A focus on community
Our practice supports the Bega Valley community, a chronically under‑serviced regional area, with accessible, thoughtful speech pathology care.
Alongside direct therapy, we are committed to contributing to a broader shift in how communication differences are understood - recognising them as a form of hidden disability and advocating for environments that adapt to individual communication needs. Our speech pathologist Sophie's advocacy work has included interviews on local ABC radio, speaking with community organisations (such as the Bega Stroke Recovery Club), and providing education and training to local early education and disability support providers.
